Our story started in 2010 during the Soccer World Cup in South Africa – even though we did not win the Cup, we won with the diversity of our warm welcome to all visitors in our country. We were inspired by how South Africans became key players in the tourism industry in South Africa. The Ubuntu ideology (“I am, because you are”) displayed during the event and beyond is the drive behind Zakumi Tours – unofficially in tourism since 2015 and officially established in 2020.
It those first five years, Fazlie Jaftha (our CEO) entered the industry and realized the enormous impact of tourism not only to the country but also realized his passion for being an unofficial ambassador for advocating and promoting the beauty and diversity of South Africa. The World Cup mascot, Zakumi, still resonates in South Africa to this day and we chose the name as an ode to the time our country was itself a mascot for welcoming and hosting people from everywhere in the world.

We were twice already in Cape Town and we always had Faz organizing our tours. I just had the pleasure of a 5-day tour of Cape Town and surrounds with Zakumi Tours, hosted by the incredible Fazlie and Wanda(for the tour of Langa). Our journey was unique, authentic, and so informative. From start to finish, the service was *exceptional* — Fazlie and Wanda ensured every detail was seamlessly executed, making the experience super easy for my family.Safety was a big concern for me as a first time visitor with my children. But at no time during the 5 days with Faz and Wanda did I have any concerns at all even when in the most dangerous parts of the most dangerous township!!One of the highlights was the trip to Stellenbosch, the drive with Zakumi was very comfortable in a spacious van.The locals-only restaurants in Cape Town were awesome - the food was incredible. The township tours were hugely educational, but an insight into history and to witness community desire to continue to raise up.What sets Zakumi Tours apart is the personalized service and their local connections, the attention to detail, and the genuine passion Fazlie and Wanda have for their city. If I could give 10 stars I would.My first time in Cape Town could not have been better, thanks to Faz who showed myself and my family around for 4 days. Faz was not only extremely flexible but super knowledgeable and professional. He was a complete standout from other tour companies as I never felt rushed and always had time to take in the beautiful scenery. His reliable and efficient skills made pickups and drop offs effortless, as well as the complementary chilled drinks and snacks with every trip. Unlike other companies I have been with, I felt really happy with the price I paid and could not have asked for a better tour.Anywhere I thought of, Faz was able to go into detail about the rich history of the place and take us to breathtaking views while doing it.Thanks FAZ!I also briefly encountered Wanda who was terrific as well, it’s great hearing from local people about local stories. He was able to give us a tour of the townships whilst teaching us a few phrases in the local languages. I have never seen another tour company like this one!10/10

As part of a farewell flight for a colleague, we had Zakumi Tours plan a four-day programme for 18 people. We received an all-round carefree package! Starting with 2 stretch limos for dinner, bus tours to the most beautiful wine estates in Stellenbosch and Franschoek, hikes around the Cape and up Lions Head, right through to a breathtaking helicopter flight. Every detail was perfectly planned by FAZ and his team. Even on our tour through Cape Town's nightlife, a driver was always with us and ensured our safety until the early hours of the morning. The whole trip at a perfect price-performance ratio!!!

Very good tour operator.I had contact with FAZ who is very professionnal and efficient . A quick booking has been done .We had Calvin as our driver for the day : he is very calm, driving smoothly and perfectly. Nothing is a problem for him. He is a very nice Guy to spend time together .As a conclusion do not hesitate to contact Zakumi Tours for your next Cape Town and nearby areas as they are a very good choice.Very good value for money .
It was such a great day with Faz! We spent the whole day with him, he took us to the kap, boulders beach to see the penguins, a lovley coffee break and at the end of the tour a sunset on a hill with some wine over capetown.Faz is so nice, he let us a lot to know about the landscape, people and history from capetown and sourroundings.He recommended a awesome restaurant for dinner to us and took care of the reservation and the transportation. Thank you very much for the really nice trip.
I had the pleasure of touring around Cape Town and its region with Faz a few times, being a flight attendant. He's an awesome tour guide. Knows the city and all there is to do around the region like the back of his hand. You can go with your eyes closed, you won't regret it. Can't wait for my company to reopen the line to Cape Town.
